How sweet the Savior’s face to the sinner’s wounded soul.
Who else can forgive so fully?
Who else can love so freely?
One’s sin that should separate now draws us near instead,
to the feet of the Only One able to cleanse.
The One whom we’ve sinned against,
The One with rights to bear wrath against us,
Pours over us mercy, grace and love instead.
Unworthy are we of Thy Mercy,
Yet in humble contrition, we come,
with nothing but our cries for mercy. To whom else can we turn?
Mercy, Christ, have mercy.
Thy grace that washes over
-oh too sweet to receive.
How can we, unworthy ones such as we?
Like the humbled prostitute who poured perfume at your feet,
So we come, Lord Jesus.
Mercy, Christ, have mercy.

A.W. Tozer, Knowledge of the Holy, p.91, 92
"If we could remember that the divine mercy is not a temporary mood but an attribute of God's eternal being, we would no longer fear that it will someday cease to be. Mercy never began to be, but from eternity was; so it will never cease to be. It will never be more since it is itself infinite; and it will never be less because the inifinte cannot suffer diminution. Nothing that has occurred or will occur in heaven or earth or hell can change the tender mercies of our God. Forever His mercy stands, a boundless, over-whelming immensity of divine pity and compassion....To receive mercy we must first know that God is merciful."
"Arise, my soul, arise;
Shake off they guilty fears;
The bleeding Sacrifice
in my behalf appears:
Before the throne my surety stands,
My name is written on His hands.
"My God is reconciled;
His pardoning voice I hear:
He owns me for His child;
I can no longer fear:
With confidence I now draw nigh,
and 'Father, Abba, Father' cry." -Charles Wesley

Good reflections, Cynthe. It is realizing how deeply we need God's mercy that draw us to his feet like a humbled prostitute, is it not? Falling short and crying out for his forgiveness and mercy bring us much closer to him than we can experience when we are standing on our own two feet. Rest in Him...
